45th BCS written exam likely to be postponed

Staff Correspondent

The government is contemplating the possibility of postponing the 45th Public Service Commission (PSC) written examination due to the political volatility prevailing across the country ahead of the 12th national election to be held on January 7.

“A circular will be issued within the next three or four hours in this regard,” Shahida Khatun, public relations officer of the PSC, told the Daily Sun on Friday afternoon.

There is a possibility of postponing the written examination against the backdrop of the current political situation, the PCS source said.

The 11-day written examination for the 45th BCS was scheduled to begin on Monday, with a total of 12,789 candidates expected to participate in the examination.

However, after the announcement of the schedule for the 12th parliamentary election, some candidates of the 45th written examination wrote to the Election Commission to defer the date due to the ongoing political programmes, including hartal and blockade, the source said.

A total of 2,309 cadres and 1,022 no-cadres will be recruited through the 45th BCS.
