The Great Independence and National Day was celebrated with due dignity today, Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the University of Dhaka. On this occasion, the university authorities undertook detailed programs. The programs included a discussion meeting on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, the laying of wreaths at the National Martyrs’ Memorial on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, special prayers, illumination of important buildings and structures, and more.

On this occasion, the national flag was hoisted at all central buildings and residential halls of the university at 6 AM today, March 26. Teachers, students, officials, staff, and alumni of the university gathered at Smriti Chirantan Square at 6 AM. From there, they proceeded towards the National Martyrs’ Memorial under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor. Later, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan led the wreath-laying ceremony at the National Martyrs’ Memorial. At that time, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, and Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed, along with various faculty deans, hall provosts, teachers, students, officials, and staff, were present.

On this occasion, after the Zuhr prayer, a special prayer was held at the university’s central mosque, Masjidul Jami’a, for the forgiveness of the souls of the martyred intellectuals. Special prayers were also held at other religious places of worship. Additionally, Curzon Hall and TSC were illuminated, and sweets were distributed among the children of university employees.

On the previous day, Tuesday, March 25, 2025, a discussion meeting titled "The Significance of the Great Independence and National Day" was held at the Teacher-Student Center auditorium. The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan, presided over the discussion
