
All-out measures taken for safety of devotees at Nat’l Eidgah: Home Adviser

The government has taken all necessary security measures to ensure the safety of devotees attending the Eid congregation at the National Eidgah.“We’ve made all kinds of security preparations so that the city dwellers can participate in the Eid congregation in a festive and safe environment,” Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said while speaking to journalists after visiting the National Eidgah ground on Sunday noon.He said that about 35,000 people will attend the Eid congregation at the National Eidgah. Many eminent and distinguished individuals also come here. "We have taken all the necessary measures to ensure their security."The adviser said that ablution facilities have been set up to allow everyone to perform Eid prayers properly.Food and water provisions have been made available, and medical treatment facilities are on standby for those in need.Besides, attendees do not need to bring their own prayer mats as carpets have been arranged for everyone.Regarding rumours on security concerns in empty Dhaka, the adviser said rumours are just rumours.
