Humiliating photos of SSC-failed female students go viral in Astagram

 Haor Region Correspondent, Kishoreganj

In the zero-point area of Allowdar Road in Astagram, a haor-dominated upazila of Kishoreganj, some local youths have taken photos holding a banner reading “Failed girls are married off” and spread them on the social media platform Facebook.

The photos went viral within moments, creating intense outrage in the area.

According to local sources, the same group has previously shared mocking and derogatory posts about girls on social media multiple times. However, since no action was taken against them earlier, they have become even more brazen.

An anonymous guardian said, “They have done such things before. But no one took action then, which is why today they are again playing with the dignity of girls. If strict punishment is not enforced this time, they will commit even worse acts in the future.”

A local teacher said, “Such behavior not only insults the students but also tarnishes the entire education system. If strict measures are not taken now, it will have a negative impact on society.”

A local lawyer stated that such acts are punishable offenses under the Information and Communication Technology Act and the defamation provisions of the Bangladesh Penal Code. Additionally, displaying banners and spreading them on social media without administrative permission is legally an offense.

Regarding this , OC  Ruhul Amin  said, “I have just been informed of the issue. Necessary legal action will be taken against them.”
