The second meeting of the Technical Coordination Committee was held on Wednesday at the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change conference room to formulate strategies and review preparations for Bangladesh's participation in the upcoming COP31 climate summit.

Acting Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Dr. Fahmida Khanam, presided over the session. The meeting focused on finalizing preparations for the 31st UN Climate Change Conference (COP31), scheduled to take place from November 9 to 20, 2026, in Antalya, Turkey.

Discussions revolved around key logistics, including drafting the national position paper, setting up the Bangladesh Pavilion, scheduling side events, and organizing the official delegation. The committee reviewed the progress of decisions taken during its inaugural meeting on September 6, emphasizing close inter-ministerial coordination to strengthen Bangladesh's stance in global climate negotiations.

In alignment with UNFCCC agendas, technical reports and policy briefs are being finalized on priority areas such as Just Transition, the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), regional cooperation, and early warning systems. Discussions also highlighted the importance of aligning interests with the Least Developed Countries (LDC) group, developing nations, and regional neighbors like Nepal and Bhutan.

The planned Bangladesh Pavilion at Antalya will showcase the country's climate vulnerabilities, adaptation strategies, Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0), National Adaptation Plan (NAP), climate finance, loss and damage, renewable energy, and nature-based solutions.

The COP31 summit will run from November 9 to 20 in Antalya, with the World Leaders’ Summit scheduled for November 11 and 12.
