19th inaugural function of Rotary Club Metropolitan Sylhet held at an elite hotel at Mirza Jangal in the city on Saturdayn night.

Inauguration ceremony chairman Rotarian PP Muhammad Kabir Uddin PHF presided over the inauguration ceremony. Former advisor of caretaker government Rasheda K Chowdhury also attend the programme as a chief guest.

District Governor Rotarian Engineer Md. Matiur Rahman PHF BMD, District First Lady Samina Rahman, PDG Salim Reza PH BMD, PDG Shahid Ahmed Chowdhury, PDG Principal Lt Col Retd M Ataur Rahman Pir, PDG Dr Belal Uddin Ahmad MP HFM CMD, DGE AHM Faisal Ahmad MP HF also attend as a special guest,

Area Advisor PP Hanif Mohammad, Area Director Rotarian PP AKM Shamsul Haque Dipu PHF, Deputy Governor Fahim Ahmad Chowdhury, Assistant Governor PP Bikash Kanti Dash, Charter President of Rotary Club of Metropolitan Sylhet MA Mannan also spoke on the occasion. Abhishek's Chief Sergeant-at-Arms PP Nazir Ahmad Azad invited the chairman of Abhishek Committee to start the ceremony. At the beginning of the initiation ceremony, Rotarian Engineer Moinul Islam Chowdhury recited from the Holy Quran and the National Anthem was played.

On the occasion of the inauguration, the chief guest along with the guests unveiled the cover of Jaflong magazine edited by PP Rotarian Rehan Uddin Raihan. At the beginning of the program, the chairman of the inaugural program, Rotarian PP Mohammad Kabir Uddin PHF, gave a welcome speech. Secretary report was read by outgoing secretary Rezaul Karim, outgoing president MD Iqbal Hossain spoke.

Later outgoing president MD Iqbal Hossain handed over the collar to new president Akhter Chowdhury Rubel. Outgoing Secretary Rezaul Karim handed over the charter to the new Deputy General Secretary Ikhtiar Ahmad Chowdhury. Anointed President Akhtar Chowdhury Rubel started the weekly meeting proceedings and invited the Governor to induct the new member Jewel Mia into Rotary and District Governor Rotarian Engineer Md. Matiur Rahman PHF BMD is inserted with rotary pin.

The President-elect introduced the 2023-2024 Board. In the event, a disabled person was given an artificial leg and 2 permanent projects of the club, Abdul Karim Chowdhury Rotary School and Nagar Preparatory School were given a donation of 50 thousand taka. Later, the anointed president Akhtar Chowdhury Rubel spoke. Rotarian PP Abu Sufian Chowdhury introduced the guests present at the event. Rotarian Ikhtiyar Ahmed Chowdhury, Associate General Secretary of the club read the resume of the chief guest, Rotarian PP Yakutul Gani Osmani gave a vote of thanks. The attendance figures were presented by Chief Sergeant at Amers PP Nazir Ahmad Azad.

In the speech of the chief guest, Rasheda K Chowdhury said that women can do a lot if given a chance, but male cricketers are losing but female cricketers are winning. Bangladeshi women are everywhere from Trinmiral to the Himalayas. After 31 years in the history of the world, the head of the women's government in Bangladesh, she called to increase the participation of women in Rotary, especially in Sylhet, to ensure the participation of women.

Rasheda K Chowdhury, the former advisor of the caretaker government, called on kidney patients to come forward to help the kidney patients in Sylhet and said that blood sugar and blood pressure should be measured in the community clinic. If this skinning system is kept, 70 percent of people will be able to avoid kidney disease. On behalf of the Rotary Club, they called for provision of washrooms for girls in secondary schools in settlements or rural areas, and provision of lunch for school-going children. Along with the government, if the private institutions come forward, it will contribute significantly to reduce the dropout of students in poverty alleviation, alleviation of hunger.
