As many as 180 ultra-poor and distressed family members received financial and material assistance during the weekly public hearing held at the Sherpur Deputy Commissioner's office on Wednesday.

The hearing was organized at the DC office conference room as part of the district administration's regular weekly outreach program.

Sherpur Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Miz Farida Yasmin presided over the hearing, listening to complaints and petitions from service seekers and issuing immediate directives to address their grievances.

Service seekers from various parts of the district presented applications regarding medical aid, financial hardship, education, housing, assistance for persons with disabilities, land-related disputes, and other civic services. The Deputy Commissioner reviewed their statements and provided instant assistance, advice, and operational instructions based on the nature of each issue.

District administration sources confirmed that out of the 180 individuals who attended, 151 were granted direct financial support from the Deputy Commissioner's discretionary fund. Additionally, two wheelchairs, medicines for five individuals, and clothing for a child were distributed.

During the session, the DC office received one application for university admission assistance, four for house construction, three for VGD cards, one for disability assistance, four for corrugated tin sheets, and five regarding land and other administrative matters.

The applications were referred to relevant departments for prompt disposal and required action, with directives issued to prioritize urgent requests. The Sherpur district administration continues to host weekly public hearings to bring government services directly to citizens' doorsteps and resolve public grievances efficiently.
