Pregnant mothers, newborn care program launched in Juri

A healthcare program for pregnant mothers and newborns has been launched at Elbintila Khasi Punji in Fultola Union in Juri Upazila of Moulvibazar.
The initiative was launched by the Middle and South Bangladesh Child Development Project (BD0430), implemented with the support of the international organization Compassion International Bangladesh.
The inaugural ceremony was held on Tuesday noon on the premises of the project office. Md. Fazle Rabbani Chowdhury, UNO of Juri Upazila, attended the event as the chief guest and formally inaugurated the program.
Earlier, a discussion meeting was held, presided over by Mrs. Lovely Suchiang, Chief Executive of Lumdonbok Development Foundation (LDF), a partner organization of Compassion International Bangladesh. The meeting was moderated by Michael Nongrum, Social Worker of the project.
The special guests who addressed the meeting included Md. Abdul Alim Selu, Chairman of Fultola Union Parishad; Jacob Munuru Das, Program Facilitator (PF) of Compassion International Bangladesh's Sylhet Cluster; and Dentina Marlia, Project Coordinator of LDF.
Among others present were Suiwing Amlenrong, Project Chairperson; Marshiful Amlenrong, an LDF member; Diko Surong, Project Manager; and Lakshi Pothimi and Chenmon Talang, members of the Project Management Committee, along with project officials and other relevant stakeholders.
Chief Guest Md. Fazle Rabbani Chowdhury, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Juri, said, “Ensuring the good health of pregnant mothers, safe motherhood, proper care for newborns, and the healthy development of children is essential for building a healthy, prosperous, and progressive nation.”
He expressed hope that the program would increase health awareness among pregnant mothers and families and play a positive role in ensuring the health and well-being of both mothers and children.
