Nur Muhammad Sagor, Srimangal (Moulvibazar)
An unusual noise came from under the bed late at night. When a family member went to see the source of the noise, he saw a huge python. Panic spread in the house instantly. Later, after receiving the news, wildlife rescuers went and rescued the nearly 16-foot-long python safely.
The incident took place after midnight on Saturday (September 18) at the house of decorators businessman Late Harun Mia in Ichhabpur village of Srimangal upazila of Moulvibazar.
After learning about the matter, local Pralad Babu informed the Bangladesh Wildlife Service Foundation in Srimangal. Later, the foundation's director Swapan Dev Sajal and environmental activist Rajdeep Dev Deep went to the spot and rescued the python from under the bed.
When the news of the snake entering the house spread, people from the surrounding area flocked to the house. The rescue team members said that since the python was quite large, they had to work carefully while rescuing it.
Swapan Dev Sajal, director of the Bangladesh Wildlife Service Foundation, said that the length of the rescued python was about 16 feet and it weighed about 26 kg.
The python was handed over to the Srimangal Forest Department range office the same night after the rescue.
Environmental activist Rajdeep Dev Deep said that recently, snakes have been seen in homes and surrounding areas. If a snake enters a house, one should maintain a safe distance and contact the Forest Department or wildlife rescue organization immediately.
Locals believe that the python entered the locality from the surrounding bushes or natural habitat and took shelter in the bedroom of the house.
