"SWAN" Planting Eco-Friendly Saplings in Kamalganj

A new chapter of greenery has been added to the protected and biodiversity-rich Lawachara National Park in Kamalganj Upazila of Moulvibazar. The abandoned and empty areas of the Baghmara Forest Camp in the park are now adorned with saplings of various species of eco-friendly and fruit trees.
This commendable afforestation program has been implemented by the initiative of Save Wildlife and Nature (SWAN), an emerging organization working for the protection of nature and wildlife.
Kamalganj UNO Sandwip Talukder was present as the chief guest in this tree plantation program organized at 11 am on Friday.
Kamalganj Upazila BNP Joint Convener Md. Abul Hossain, Kamalganj Press Club President Ashabuzzaman Shaon and Srimangal Range Officer of the Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Department Kazi Md. Nazmul Haque.
Among others, Kamalganj Press Club General Secretary and SWAN Vice President Ahmeduzzaman Alam, Srimangal Press Club Member Secretary and SWAN Senior Vice President Rubel Ahmed, Lawachara Co-Management Committee Acting President Amena Begum and members of the organization's Moulvibazar unit were also present.
Keeping in mind the balance of the environment and addressing the natural food crisis of wildlife, various indigenous and beneficial tree species have been selected for this program.
The trees planted include traditional Amalaki, Bahera and Hartaki with medicinal properties, Jam, Shimul trees that are friendly to native birds and nature, and jackfruit trees that provide food for wildlife.
