Discussion at DU Jagannath Hall on Janmashtami

On the occasion of Janmashtami, one of the main religious festivals of the Hindu community, various day-long programs were organized by the joint initiative of Dhaka University Jagannath Hall and Sri Chaitanya Shiksha O Sanskriti Sangha on Friday.
The programs included a Sankirtan procession, discussion meetings, etc. In the evening, the discussion meeting was chaired by Jagannath Hall Principal Dr. Debashish Pal and Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam was present as the chief guest.
Emeritus Professor of Pali and Buddhist Studies Department Dr. Sukomal Barua, Resident Teacher of Jagannath Hall Sanjay Kumar Dey, Dhaka University Chhatra Dal President Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahas, GS of Jagannath Hall Sangsad Sudipto Pramanik, Hall Branch Chhatra Dal Convener Madhusudan Kundu Hrishikesh, Senior Joint Convener Nityananda Pal and Member-Secretary Prosenjit Biswas spoke as special guests in the discussion meeting. In addition, Joint General Secretary of ISKCON Bangladesh Jagadguru Gauranga Das Brahmachari and Former General Secretary of Sri Chaitanya Shiksha O Sangshri Sangha Hirend Chandra Sarkar spoke.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam called upon everyone, regardless of religion or caste, to work together to establish social justice and good governance. He said, "In society, we see manifestations of violence, hatred, violence and selfishness. We must avoid these and develop a culture of patience, tolerance and respect for others.
