Veteran journalist FF Mrinal Krishna Roy passes away

Veteran journalist, Freedom Fighter, and member of the Jatiya Press Club, Mrinal Krishna Roy, has passed away.
He breathed his last early Sunday morning (August 9, 2026) at a hospital in the capital. He was 84 years old. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and a host of relatives, colleagues, and well-wishers.
Following tributes paid at the Jatiya Press Club at noon, his last rites were performed at the Postogola Crematorium later in the day.
Mrinal Krishna Roy began his journalism career in 1965 with the Pakistan Observer. Over his long and distinguished career, he also worked with the now-defunct Bangladesh Times, The Financial Express, and the national news agency BSS (Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha).
Jatiya Press Club President Hasan Hafiz and General Secretary Ayub Bhuiyan expressed deep grief and sorrow over his passing. In a joint statement, the press club leadership prayed for the peace of his departed soul and extended their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
