Victory Day is being celebrated with due dignity in Joypurhat with various arrangements.
The Victory Day ceremonies began with 31 gunshots at sunrise on Monday .
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Afroza Akhter Chowdhury, Superintendent of Police Muhammad Abdul Wahab, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohiuddin Jahangir, Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Rashedul Islam, District BNP Convener Golzar Hossain, Senior Joint Convener Masud Rana Pradhan, former Freedom Fighters' Congress Commander Amjad Hossain and officials from various government departments, socio-political and cultural organizations paid tribute by placing flowers at the central memorial in the first hour of the day.
Later, at 9 am, Deputy Commissioner Afroza Akhtar Chowdhury inaugurated the day-long Bijoy Mela at the Circuit House ground in Joypurhat city. At that time, the brave freedom fighters were welcomed with flowers and wearing Uttariya.
