Porsha (Naogaon) Correspondent 

 Police and army personnel arrested two people who came to steal mangoes from the orchard in Porsha, Naogaon recently. 

The arrested are Zahid Hasan (27), son of Nurul Huda of Sankarbati Battola village in Chapainawabganj Sadar, and ATM Badrul Alam (46), son of the late Yasin Ali of Dariapur village in the same area. 

The arrested Zahid Hasan claimed to be a member of the Chapainawabganj Model Press Club and the district representative of Bangla Vision Television, and Badrul Alam claimed to be the president of the Reporters Club and the district representative of the Bangladesh Khabor Pratidin online newspaper.

 However, the authenticity of this could not be confirmed. It is reported that the two arrested people, along with a group of about 30-35 people, came to Porsha late on Tuesday night with two tractors to steal mangoes.  At night, they started stealing mangoes from the orchard of a certain Saidur Rahman in the Baragram area of Ghatnagar UP in Porsha Upazila. 

At that time, the orchard guard sensed it and tactfully informed the orchard owner and locals about the matter. Upon receiving the news, the orchard owner informed the local police station and army members about the matter on his mobile phone. In view of this, the army and the police station led by Porsha Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abu Bakar Siddique conducted a joint operation at night. In this, Zahid Hasan and Badrul Alam were arrested, but the others escaped.

 Two  tractors and 70 carats of mangoes were seized from the scene. Confirming the truth of the incident, Porsha Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abu Bakar Siddique said that the orchard owner Saidur Rahman filed a case with the police station as the plaintiff in this incident. The two detainees were sent to jail on Wednesday.
