A discussion meeting focusing on the role of teenage girls in building a drug-free society, awareness, morality and a better future was held in Chapainawabganj. A quiz competition, cultural programme and anti-drug drama were also organised with the participation of students.

The programme was held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the hallroom of Rajarampur Hasina Girls’ High School, jointly organised by the District Administration and the Department of Narcotics Control, Chapainawabganj.

Drputy Commissioner Abu Saleh Md. Musa Jangi addressed the programme as the chief guest. He said drug addiction is a silent killer that can push a promising life into darkness within a short time. Drug addiction can also put an entire family into crisis, while an addicted person gradually loses the love and respect of family and society.

The programme was chaired by Md. Abdus Salam, president of the school’s ad hoc committee. Special guests included Prof Dr. Biplab Kumar Mozumder, Principal of Chapainawabganj Government Women’s College, and Chowdhury Imrul Hasan, Deputy Director of the Department of Narcotics Control, Chapainawabganj.

The programme began with an opening speech by Mohammad Jahangir Selim, Acting Head Teacher of the school.

Later, the students took an anti-drug pledge. They also displayed red cards bearing the slogan “Say No to Drugs”, expressing their strong opposition to drug abuse.

The concluding session featured anti-drug songs, a quiz competition and an anti-drug drama performed with the participation of students. Prizes were distributed among 10 quiz competition winners and four meritorious students. Anti-drug awareness leaflets were also distributed among the students.
