State Minister for Environment inaugurates 'Tree Plantation Program-2026' under Coast Guard supervision in Mongla

State Minister for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Sheikh Faridul Islam, MP, has officially inaugurated the "Tree Plantation Program-2026" under the supervision of the Coast Guard in Mongla, Bagerhat.
Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon, Coast Guard Media Officer, shared this information on Wednesday afternoon .
He stated that the government has undertaken a mega plan to plant 25 crore trees nationwide over the next five years to preserve forests, wildlife, environment, and biodiversity. Aligning with this vision under the slogan "Decorate the Country with Tree Plantation, Bangladesh First," the "Tree Plantation Program-2026" was held across various areas under the West Zone of the Bangladesh Coast Guard to protect ecological balance, conserve biodiversity, and combat the adverse impacts of climate change.
Organized by the Enroute Foundation with the overall supervision of the Bangladesh Coast Guard, the program was inaugurated on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
With State Minister Sheikh Faridul Islam attending as the chief guest, the program will see the planting of approximately 9,400 saplings across different areas within the Coast Guard West Zone. These saplings will play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance in coastal regions, preventing soil erosion, preserving biodiversity habitats, and mitigating climate change impacts.
The media officer added that this initiative is part of an ongoing integrated effort to safeguard the natural environment and biodiversity of Mongla and surrounding coastal areas.
