Coast Guard seized foreign liquor, Indian sarees marijuana in separate operations in Patenga

A large quantity of foreign liquor, beer, Indian sarees and marijuana were seized in two separate operations by the Coast Guard in Patenga, Chittagong. No arrests were made as the smugglers and drug dealers fled during these operations.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan gave this information on Tuesday (August 25) afternoon.
He said that on Monday (August 24), a team of Coast Guard Outpost Patenga conducted a special operation based on secret information in Patenga Bahinongar Beach area of Chittagong around 11 pm. During the search, 118 bottles of foreign liquor and 477 cans of beer worth about 3.8 million taka, illegally unloaded from a commercial ship, were seized. It was not possible to arrest anyone as the drug dealers fled after sensing the presence of the Coast Guard.
On the other hand, at around 1 am on the same day, 93 Indian sarees worth about 2 million taka and 14 kg of ganja worth about 420,000 taka were seized in a joint operation by Coast Guard Base Chittagong and Outpost Patenga in the Charpara Ghat area under Patenga police station. At that time, too, the smugglers fled after sensing the presence of the Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard said that further legal action is underway regarding the seized foreign liquor and beer. In addition, the seized Indian sarees and marijuana have been handed over to Patenga Model Police Station.
The Coast Guard's operations to prevent the spread of dangerous drugs and smuggling will continue. Such operations will be further strengthened in the future.
