30,400 sticks of foreign cigarettes seized from two warehouses in Bhola

A large quantity of foreign cigarettes and rolling paper stockpiled for illegal marketing after evading customs duties has been seized by members of the Bangladesh Coast Guard South Zone in Lalmohan, Bhola. No one was arrested as those involved fled after sensing the presence of the Coast Guard.
Lieutenant Md. Salman Bin Shawkat, Media Officer of the Coast Guard South Zone said in a press release at around 2:00pm on Monday.
According to Coast Guard sources, acting on a tip-off, a special operation was conducted from 9:00pm to midnight on Sunday in the area adjacent to Gajaria Bazar in West Char Umed Union of Lalmohan upazila. During the operation, Coast Guard members searched two suspected warehouses and seized 30,400 sticks of foreign cigarettes of various brands. The estimated value of the seized cigarettes is Tk 343,200.
Besides, 348 bundles of rolling paper, reportedly used for consuming cannabis, worth approximately Tk 52,200, were also seized.
During the operation, the people involved fled after sensing the presence of Coast Guard personnel, and therefore no one could be arrested.
