School teacher dies after being hit by car in Noakhali

A school teacher named Shafiqul Azim alias Sumon (46) died after being hit by an unidentified vehicle in Begumganj Upazila of Noakhali.
The accident occurred on the Chowmuhani-Maizdi regional highway in front of Haji Safi Manzil, adjacent to Joynal Abedin School and College in the upazila, at around 4:15 pm on Wednesday.
The deceased, Sumon, was an assistant teacher at Uttar Kutubpur Government Primary School in the upazila and was the son of Master Abul Khair, a Wali Bepari house owner in Ghatla village, Ward No. 1 of Kadirpur Union in the upazila.
Police and locals said that in the afternoon, Suman left for the district town of Maizdi on a motorcycle from the intersection area of Chowmunhi Municipality. On the way, when he reached the Chaumuhani-Maizdi regional highway in front of Haji Safi Manzil adjacent to Joynal Abedin School and College, an unknown reckless vehicle hit him. He fell on the road and was seriously injured. Later, locals rescued him and took him to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Begumganj Police Station OC Md. Shamsuzzaman said, "I have heard about the matter. Police are now being sent to the scene. Details will be known after inspecting the scene."
