Rules violated,  complaints to ACC :  Ex- sub-Registrar Shirin Akhtar allegedly  embezzled huge money at last working day

The recently retired Sub-Registrar of Boda Upazila in Panchagarh, Shirin Akhtar has allegedly  illegally registered  land on the last working day. She  has been accused of registering nine bighas of land after the stipulated time by giving false information. It has been learned that a complaint has been filed by the ACC recently.

Most recently, ninety-year-old Zahed Ali of the Notunbandar area of Debiganj Municipality was taken to the Sub-Registrar's office in a wheelchair by his daughters to register his land. However, he cannot walk or speak due to old age and paralysis. As a result, Zahed Ali's other heirs have been objecting to not registering the document.

Although there is a provision to complete the land registration process between 10 am and 3 pm, Sub-Registrar Shirin Akhter violated  that rule and completed the registration of the land at approximately by  6:30 pm by taking a huge  sum of money. The document number of which is 1418. This will be proven only if the office's CCTV camera footage is verified.

Upon receiving the news, Shahnaz Parveen, daughter of the late Rezanur Hasan Manjur, the eldest son of Zahed Ali, went to the sub-registry office and told reporters, "My seven aunts have registered the land in their own names, depriving me of my father's rights. I had given a written objection to the sub-registrar in this regard. Even then, after the end of office hours, the sub-registrar registered the land with an unbalanced person by taking a large bribe."

When media personnel questioned Sub-Registrar Shirin Akhter when she left the office around 7 pm, she said, "You complained to my district registrar. I spoke to the police station and UNO sir. The donor agreed, so the land was registered."

Meanwhile, Shahidul Islam, president of the Document Writers Association, said that Zahed Ali's daughters met the sub-registrar in the afternoon. But then Sub-registrar Shirin Akhter asked them to leave.

Sub-inspector of Debiganj Police Station, Rabiul Islam, who was at the scene, said, "We came here at around 6:30 pm based on the complaint that land registry was being taken forcibly. When we arrived, we found that the deed registry had already been completed."

Shahnaz Parveen, granddaughter of Zahed Ali, complained that Manjurul Islam Monu, general secretary of the Document Writers Association and newly elected upazila vice chairman, assisted the sub-registrar in this entire incident. He executed the deed.

When media workers tried to talk to the land donor, Zahed Ali, in the presence of the police, his daughters stopped them.

Shahidul Islam, president of the Document Writers Association, who was present at the scene, said that they came once in the afternoon but the sub-registrar returned it. Later in the evening, the land was registered. Apart from this, the sub-registrar cannot register land after 3 pm.

The complaint also mentions that sub-registrar Shirin Akhter has previously worked in Nilphamari, Domar, Panchagarh, Debiganj, and Boda and has built two luxurious Alishan houses in Rangpur and Dinajpur cities by embezzling lakhs of taka through widespread public harassment and corruption.

She has a lot of money in the bank and several business establishments in Dinajpur town.  Recently, after sub-registrar Shirin Akhter joined Mitha Pukur in Rangpur, document writers and donors have become fed up with her bribery and corruption.
