Rehabilitation process of AL started under Govt : Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon

Munshiganj (South) Correspondent

BNP Vice Chairman Dr. Asaduzzaman Ripon has said,  the rehabilitation process of Awami League members has started under the Yunus-led government. This process is going on in various forms within the government—sometimes in the name of advisors, and sometimes as special assistants, Awami League members are being rehabilitated.

He made these remarks on Friday while speaking as the chief guest at a public rally organized by Upazila BNP and various community groups at Shimulia Ghat in Louhajong Upazila of Munshiganj.

Dr. Ripon further stated that those who supported Sheikh Hasina, who were involved in corruption, who stood against democratic processes, and who encouraged Sheikh Hasina to take authoritarian steps—those who applauded such actions—are now being seen gradually integrated into the administration of the Yunus-led interim government.

Addressing the head of the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the BNP leader said, “A few days ago, a former diplomat named Shafiur Rahman was included as a diplomat. There is also a justice named Imrul Kayes who committed injustice in the name of justice—not only against my leader, but also against me.”

Dr. Ripon urged Dr. Yunus: “You must remove those who were close to Sheikh Hasina, who applauded her moves, from your side. Today we are only naming two people, but in the future, we will reveal more and more names.”

He alleged that agents of the fallen government are still hiding in the police, administration, and judiciary. These people, symbolized by the boat (Awami League’s electoral symbol), must be removed from key positions.

Regarding recent movements and protests across Dhaka and other areas, the BNP leader said, “The government is being destabilized in the name of so-called movements in different places. A major from the army has said there is a hidden hand behind this unrest. And who is behind it? Agents of the fallen autocracy. They have a lot of black money and are trying to embarrass the government, make it questionable, and disrupt the democratic progress we are making. So, these elements should be identified and actions should be taken immediately.”

At the rally, an 11-point demand was raised including: construction of an international-standard inland container port at Shimulia Ghat, stopping illegal sand extraction across the country, seizing illegal bulkheads and dredgers used in sand looting, taking legal action against sand mafia, halting illegal toll collection from angry traders at Shimulia Ghat by leaseholders, and prompt action against drug trafficking.

The meeting was presided over by former organizing secretary of Haldia Union BNP of Louhajong Upazila, Md. Kamal Khan. Among others who spoke at the event were: Advocate Zakaria Molla, President of Munshiganj Bar Association; Md. Roman Hossain, Convener of City Chhatra Dal; and Zahir Amin Dewan, Member Secretary of Louhajong Govt. College Branch, along with other leaders from the district, upazila, and union levels.
