The Maria Canal Re-Dredging Work has been inaugurated in Shajahanpur, Bogura.

On Wednesday afternoon, the official inauguration of the canal re-dredging work was held in the Maria area of Amrul Union of the upazila by Bogura-7 Constituency MP Morshed Milton.

Bogra Water Development Board Superintendent Engineer Ariful Islam, Upazila BNP President Enamul Haque Shahin, General Secretary Azizur Rahman Bidyut, former convener Abul Bashar and former president of the district Jubo Dal Khademul Islam were present at the inauguration ceremony.

Also present at the event were Executive Engineer of Water Development Board Mahmud Hasan, Deputy Engineer Humayun Kabir, Deputy Assistant Engineer Abdul Malek, Upazila BNP Organizing Secretary Harez Uddin, Abu Shahin Sunny, BNP leader Tamez Uddin, former Chairman of Amrul Union Asaduzzaman Atal, former Senior Vice President of District Volunteer Party Badsha Sarkar, BNP leader Atahar Ali Qayyum, Shahinur, Zahurul Master, Youth Leader Rahmat Ali, Babu, Moniruzzaman Manik, Babu and local dignitaries.

The 1-kilometer long canal re-excavation project has been taken up for implementation by the Bangladesh Water Development Board (PWDB) in the fiscal year 2025-26 at a cost of 8 lakh 12 thousand taka.

In his inaugural speech, MP Morshed Milton said that in continuation of the canal excavation program of martyred President Ziaur Rahman, the canal re-excavation program has been taken up again at the initiative of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. As a result, irrigation facilities in agriculture will increase and new possibilities will be created in fish farming. At the end of the program, special prayers and prayers were held for the welfare of the country and the nation.
