Main accused in Betagi schoolgirl assault arrested by SRB-8 in Barguna

Specialized Reconnaissance Battalion-8 (SRB-8), CPC-1, Patuakhali Camp arrested Faisal, the primary suspect in the assault of a fifth-grade female student whose teeth were broken in Betagi upazila of Barguna.
An operational team from SRB-8 conducted a drive in the Barguna Sadar Police Station area on Sunday afternoon, and apprehended the fugitive suspect.
According to the case details, the victim is a fifth-grade primary school student, and the accused, Faisal, is her relative and neighbor. The suspect had reportedly been stalking and harassing the victim for a long period.
The incident occurred while the victim was returning home from school. As she reached the corner of the 61 No. Gabtali Government Primary School ground, Faisal and his accomplices, who were lying in wait, ambushed and severely beat her, fracturing her teeth and causing serious injuries. Hearing her screams, nearby students and local residents rescued the victim and admitted her to Barguna General Hospital. The victim's mother subsequently filed a case regarding the attack.
Following the assault, SRB-8 initiated a shadow investigation into the case. The suspects had fled the area and continuously altered their locations to evade law enforcement agencies. A team from SRB-8 tracked down the main accused, Faisal, and arrested him in Barguna Sadar upazila on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
SRB officials stated that drives to arrest the remaining accomplices involved in the assault are currently ongoing.
