Main accused of sensational murder of elderly woman Ranu in Madaripur arrested by RAB -8

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Madaripur-8 has unraveled the mystery of the murder of elderly woman Ranu Begum (60), who was brutally murdered by slitting her throat in Shibchar, Madaripur.
The main accused in the sensational incident, Kazi Russell Mahmud alias Sabuj (30), has been arrested by RAB-8, CPC-3 Madaripur. A mobile phone stolen from the victim was recovered at the time.
RAB said that on September 22, around 10:30 am, police recovered the body of Ranu Begum with her throat slit from her house in Char Kachikata village of Umedpur union in Shibchar upazila. The deceased's son Khokon Hawlader filed a murder case against unknown accused at Shibchar police station. The horrific murder quickly created a sensation in the area and made headlines in the media.
Later, a special team of RAB-8 started an investigation with the help of intelligence surveillance and modern technology. On Thursday (September 25) evening, Madaripur-8 RAB arrested the accused Sabuj from the Pachchar Charkandi area of Shibchar Upazila.
The victim's stolen mobile phone was also recovered from the arrested accused.
During initial interrogation, Sabuj told RAB that he had moved into Ranu Begum's house as a tenant about nine months ago. After a few days, he was suspected of theft and left the house after a disagreement. This led to anger towards Ranu. Driven by that anger, he entered Ranu's house late at night on September 21 and took the opportunity to brutally kill Ranu Begum with sharp scissors in the morning. After the murder, he looted two mobile phones, earrings, a rice cooker, clothes and cash and fled.
The accused also said that he sold a mobile phone and earrings among the looted goods. The arrested accused along with the recovered evidence has been handed over to Shibchar Police Station for further legal action.
Madaripur-8 RAB CPC-3 Company Commander Mir Monir Hossain said that RAB's operation will continue to unravel the mystery of such clueless murders and bring the criminals to justice.
