ISDE Bangladesh provides food assistance to 5,000 flood-hit families in Cox's Bazar with another 1,000 families in 2nd phase

 ISDE Bangladesh is distributing food aid in phases to 5,000 families in Chakaria, Pekua and Matamuhuri upazilas affected by the recent floods in Cox's Bazar . In the second phase of the program, food items were distributed to 1,000 flood-affected families in Phansiakhali Union No. 8 and Koiyarbil Union No. 3 of Chakaria Upazila on Sunday.

 

ISDE Bangladesh is implementing this humanitarian assistance program funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center ( KSrelief) of Saudi Arabia . In this phase, food items were distributed to 500 families in Phansiakhali Union Parishad and another 500 families in Kaiarbil Union Parishad.

 

Earlier, in the first phase of the same program, food aid was distributed to 1,000 flood-affected families in Chakaria Municipality. The organization said that food aid will be delivered to the remaining affected families in phases.

 

Each family was given a complete food package consisting of 10 kg of rice , 7 kg of pulses , 3 liters of soybean oil , 1 kg of sugar and 1 kg of salt. According to the organizers , this assistance will play a significant role in addressing the immediate food crisis of the families affected by the floods.

 

Administrative officer Md. Ataul Gani Parvez , prominent politician and social worker Qutub Uddin and Engineer Shahedul Mostafa were present at the distribution ceremony organized at Phansiakhali Union Parishad.

 

Present at the program held at Koyarbil Union Parishad were Union Parishad Secretary Nurul Alam , prominent politician and social worker Shekafuddin Uddin , UP members Mozammel Haque (Ward No. 4) , Nurul Islam (Ward No. 9) , Akhter Ahmed (Ward No. 5) , Abul Kalam (Ward No. 8) , former UP member Abu Yusuf Mohammad Yahya (Ward No. 7) and social worker Ariful Islam.

 

Present on behalf of ISDE Bangladesh were Project Coordinator Md. Jahangir Alam , Upazila Manager Jalal Uddin , Project Officer (Mill) Mostaq Ahmed and Project Officer (Logistics) Taj Uddin.

 

Local representatives said at the event that many families have lost their homes , food supplies, and livelihoods in the recent floods , and are facing a humanitarian crisis. Such food assistance is playing an effective role in alleviating the suffering of the affected people and instilling new hope among them.

 

Md. Jahangir Alam, project coordinator of ISDE Bangladesh, said , " It is our humanitarian duty to stand by the flood-affected people. In the first phase, 1,000 families of Chakaria Municipality have been provided with food assistance.

 

The beneficiaries expressed relief after receiving the food assistance. They said that due to the floods , many families have lost their homes, livelihoods and income.
