The closing ceremony of the two-day international conference “Signal Processing, Information, Communication and Systems 2026 (SPICSCON 2026)”, organized for the first time by the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Bangladesh Army University of Engineering & Technology (BAUET), was held on Friday evening at the BAUET campus.

Barrister Farzana Sharmin, Hon’ble State Minister for Social Welfare and Member of Parliament of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, attended the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest.

The Chief Guest praised BAUET for its contributions to education, research, and socio-economic development in Qadirabad, Bagatipara Upazila, and the surrounding areas. She congratulated BAUET, the IEEE Bangladesh Section, and everyone involved for successfully organizing SPICSCON 2026. She urged young people to contribute to the development of the country by utilizing their knowledge, technology, innovation, and human values. She also assured all-out cooperation in BAUET’s future advancement, research activities, and expansion of international collaboration.

Brigadier General S M Lutfor Rahman, Vice Chancellor of BAUET, attended the event as the Chief Patron of the conference. Professor Dr. Md. Qudrat-E-Jahan, Vice Chancellor of Bogura University, and Professor Dr. Ko Kamada of Gunma University, Japan, were present as Special Guests.

Professor Dr. Celia Shahnaz of the Department of EEE, BUET, served as the General Chair, while Professor Dr. Sheikh Anwarul Fattah of the same department served as the Technical Program Chair. Professor Dr. Md. Osman Gani of the Department of EEE, BAUET, served as the Conference Chair. Professor Mohammad Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, BAUET, served as the Chair of the Local Organizing Committee.

Researchers, teachers, engineers, academics, and industry experts from home and abroad participated in the two-day international conference. The conference provided an important platform for sharing recent research, innovations, knowledge, and experiences in signal processing, information, communication, and related technologies. It also strengthened interdisciplinary research, international collaboration, and meaningful interaction between academia and industry.

The research paper presented by Shishir Paul and Tanmoy Mridha, researchers and teachers from Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET), was selected as the “Best Research Paper” at the conference.

At the closing ceremony, Chief Patron and Vice Chancellor of BAUET Brigadier General S M Lutfur Rahman expressed his sincere gratitude to all participating institutions, sponsors, members of the organizing committee, paper reviewers, volunteers, and media professionals who contributed to the successful organization of the conference. He said that such international conferences open new avenues for research and innovation while creating opportunities for knowledge and experience sharing among researchers from home and abroad. He expressed hope that SPICSCON 2026 would be established as a memorable milestone in BAUET’s and Bangladesh’s international engineering research and technological advancement.

At the end of the ceremony, Chief Guest Barrister Farzana Sharmin was presented with a crest as a token of appreciation by the Chief Patron and Vice Chancellor of BAUET, Brigadier General S M Lutfor Rahman.

The closing ceremony was conducted by Nur-Al-Nafis, Lecturer, Department of English, and Anika Akter, Lecturer, Department of Business Administration, BAUET.

Deans of various faculties, heads of departments, faculty members, researchers from home and abroad, members of the conference organizing committee, and invited guests were also present.
