Workshop held at DU

A day-long workshop titled ''The Modern Social Scientists: Navigating Research, Teaching and Academic Growth'' was held at the Professor Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium on Wednesday at the initiative of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Dhaka University.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr. Abdus Salam, and Bangladesh University Grants Commission Member Prof Dr. Abdullah-al-Mamun spoke as the chief guest. Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Prof Kazi Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman delivered the welcome speech. Chairperson of the Department of Economics Prof Dr. Firdousi Nahar proposed the vote of thanks. Students of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism Naimur Rahman Emon and Tarana Zahid conducted the sandhi ceremony. Chairmen and teachers of various departments under the Faculty of Social Sciences were present at the event.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr. Abdus Salam said that to increase the quality and prestige of the university, teachers should be more focused on research. International quality research papers should be published.
After the inaugural ceremony, experts presented papers and participated in discussions in two separate sessions. The closing ceremony was graced by the chief guest, Professor Dr. Mohammad Almojaddidi Alfesani, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) of Dhaka University.
