Indonesian Ambassador pays courtesy call on DU VC

Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh Ms. Listyowati paid a courtesy call on Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam at his office on Thursday,.
Mr. Sahid Nurkarim, Second Secretary of the Indonesian Embassy in Dhaka, and Mr. Ahmad Saifuddin, Minister Counselor of the same embassy, were with her during the visit.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on various issues including admission of more Indonesian students to Dhaka University and provision of scholarships to them. At the same time, the Ambassador also expressed interest in providing higher education opportunities and scholarships to students, teachers and officials of Dhaka University in various Indonesian universities.
Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam expressed his interest in working jointly with Indonesian universities for the promotion of education and research and the welfare of teachers, students and society. He emphasized on strengthening bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Indonesia through education and research.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of launching a joint degree program on language and culture between Dhaka University and various Indonesian universities. In addition, discussions were held on the possibility of jointly organizing teacher and student exchange programs and organizing conferences, symposiums and workshops between Dhaka University and Indonesian universities. They agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding in this regard soon.
