Protest at expatriate's house over marriage demand in Gobindaganj
Gaibandha Correspondent
A young woman named Suravi staged a protest late Friday night outside the home of Saudi Arabia-based expatriate Rashidul Islam Raihan in Anantapur Nayapara village, demanding marriage. Carrying a bottle of poison, Suravi claimed the two had been in an 11-year romantic relationship that Raihan refused to formalize.
The midnight incident drew a large local crowd, creating brief tension before residents intervened to calm the situation. Suravi's claims could not be independently verified, and Raihan was unavailable for comment.
Muhammad Mozammel Haque, OC of Gobindaganj Police Station, stated that legal action will follow if a formal complaint is filed.
