Hundreds of trees planted in DU VC's residence

More than a hundred tree saplings were planted in the premises of the Vice-Chancellor's residence of Dhaka University on Monday morning.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam planted saplings of four categories of trees - fruit, forest, medicinal and ornamental.
Prof Dr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin, Director of the Arboriculture Center of Dhaka University, was present at the event.
After participating in the tree plantation program, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam said, tree plantation is very important in maintaining environmental balance, conserving biodiversity and combating the adverse effects of climate change. The contribution of trees in building a green, livable and sustainable Bangladesh is immensely.
The Vice Chancellor further said, Dhaka University has been playing an important role in environmental conservation and sustainable development activities along with knowledge cultivation.
