Memorial meeting of Prof Nazrul Islam held

A prayer and discussion meeting in memory of the late Professor A.K.M. Nazrul Islam of the Department of Botany of Dhaka University was held at the Central Gallery of the Department of Botany on Sunday.
Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Dr. Mohammad Almojaddidi Alfesani was present as the chief guest at the memorial meeting.
The discussion meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Department of Botany, Professor Dr. Asfaq Ahmed, and the Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Prof Dr. Md. Abdul Karim, spoke as a special guest. Professor Dr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin, retired Prof Z.N. Tahmida Begum, retired Professor Moniruzzaman Khandaker and supernumerary professor Dr. Md. Abul Basar reminisced. Nurunnahar Shelly, wife of the late Professor A.K.M. Nazrul Islam, and son Ahmed Saeed Nazrul were present at the time. Marufa Akhter Koli, a student of the department, conducted the memorial service.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Dr. Mohammad Almojaddidi Alfesani paid deep tribute to the memory of the late Professor A.K.M. Nazrul Islam and said, he was a very kind person and a dedicated teacher and researcher. He had deep knowledge and interest in various subjects including botany. It is very important to preserve the valuable information and data and rare research materials collected during his long working life. These materials will inspire students in research.
