In addition, due to the severe gas crisis, the production of goods in various small and large industries in the district, including Cumilla EPZ, BSCIC Industrial City, which depend on fuel gas, has been disrupted. There are about 5 lakh customers of Bakhrabad Gas Distribution Company in Cumilla .
The same suffering is everywhere in the residential, commercial and industrial sectors. This crisis has become severe especially in Cumilla city and surrounding areas. However, the marketing department of the Bakhrabad Gas Distribution Company in Cumilla said that this gas crisis did not start on Thursday, but on Wednesday morning. However, the level of gas crisis became severe in Cumilla on Thursday.
Mainly due to the turbulent waves in the Bay of Bengal, the supply of LNG (liquefied natural gas) in Maheshkhali, Chittagong, was stopped, resulting in a severe gas crisis in Cumilla . Due to the turbulent waves, the cargo ships loaded with liquefied natural gas are not able to reach the supply center, so it is not possible to supply as per the demand. However, once the adverse weather conditions pass, the gas supply will start once the crisis is over. For that, we will have to wait until Friday.
It was learned that since Thursday morning, every residential area of the city including Kandirpar, Bagichagaon, Rajganj, Police Line, Ashoktola, Chhotora, Ashrafpur, Chartha, Munsefbari in Cumilla city has been facing a gas crisis.
The same situation is seen in the surrounding suburbs and upazila towns.
Due to the gas crisis, people have been seen cooking on stoves. And those residents who do not have stoves have had to stand in line and collect food from hotels and restaurants.
Residents complain that there is a sudden severe gas crisis. Not even a single flame is burning in the stove. So, they were forced to suffer while collecting food from the hotel. They had to stand in line and buy food at an additional price. Hotel owners sold food at an additional price, understanding the connection.
On the other hand, due to the consumption crisis, long lines of gas-powered vehicles appeared at the CNG filling stations in the district along the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, Cumilla -Noakhali, Cumilla -Chandpur and Cumilla -Sylhet regional highways.
Drivers said that it is not possible to run vehicles on oil without gas. Because the price of oil is very high. So they are forced to wait for gas.

This crisis has become especially acute in Cumilla city and surrounding areas. Comilla is facing a severe gas crisis as LNG (liquefied natural gas) supply to Maheshkhali in Chittagong has been cut off due to rough seas in the Bay of Bengal. It is hoped that gas supply will be restored to normal by Friday morning or by Saturday itself.
