
Durga Puja in Gopalganj: Police on maximum preparedness to maintain peace, harmony

The district police administration has taken extensive security measures to maintain peace and harmony at the puja mandap on the occasion of the upcoming autumn Durga Puja in Gopalganj.
On this occasion, a meeting was held with the leaders of the puja celebration committee at the district police office on Thursday morning. In the meeting, District Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman sought everyone's cooperation to maintain a peaceful environment at the puja mandap.
Police Superintendent Mizanur Rahman said,
"Durga Puja is the main religious festival of the Bengali Hindu community. However, it is not just a religious event—it is a universal festival of Bengalis. The bond of harmony, brotherhood, and camaraderie surrounding this festival is strengthened. Therefore, our goal is that everyone can celebrate the Durga Puja festival in a joyful atmosphere while maintaining peace and order. Police, Ansar, VDP members, as well as RAB and the army will be on patrol at every Puja mandap in Gopalganj for security. No kind of chaos or mischief will be tolerated on the occasion of the Puja."
It was informed at the meeting that this year, Durga Puja will be held in a total of 1,285 mandap and temples in the five upazilas of the district. Of these, puja will be held in 353 mandap in Sadar upazila, 321 in Kotalipara, 295 in Muksudpur, 224 in Kashiani and 90 in Tungipara.
The leaders of the Puja Celebration Committee assured the meeting that they would provide maximum cooperation during the festival and celebrate Durga Puja peacefully in close coordination with law enforcement agencies.
