‎ The "Newcomer and Farewell Reception" program of the Department of Persian Language and Literature, Dhaka University was held on Wednesday at the TSC Auditorium. Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr. Abdus Salam was present as the chief guest at the program.

‎‎ The program was presided over by the Departmental Chairman Dr. Md. Mumit Al Rashid, with Iranian Ambassador to Dhaka Prof Dr. Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi as the guest of honor and Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof Dr. Md. Abul Kalam Sarkar and Cultural Counselor of the Iranian Embassy in Dhaka Mahdi Moulayi Arani as special guests.

The convener of the program organizing committee, Prof Dr. KM Saiful Islam Khan, delivered the welcome speech. On behalf of the freshmen, Md. Mushfiqur Rahman and Atika Rahman and on behalf of the outgoing ones, Musarrat Tayyiba Muskan and Palash Mahmud expressed their feelings. Tanzina Binte Noor, Lecturer of the Department of Persian Language and Literature, conducted the program. Teachers and students of the department were present at the time.

Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr. Abdus Salam congratulated the new students and said that they should develop into skilled human resources by engaging in various co-curricular activities of the university along with their studies.

Iranian Ambassador Professor Dr. Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi said, "Persian language is an important vehicle of Islamic civilization, history and culture. Through this language, one can learn about ancient history, literature and traditions. Persian language also has a deep connection with the history and traditions of South Asia.
