As part of their release on probation under the jurisdiction of a Munshiganj court in a drug case, the accused have donated five electric fans and five bedsheets to Hoglakandi Hafizia Keramatia Women’s Madrasa in the Sadar upazila as an act of humanitarian service.

On Thursday at around 10:30 AM, the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Munshiganj, Gazir Delwar Hossain, handed over the donated items to the madrasa’s president, Anwar Hossain, from his courtroom chamber.

Earlier, during the pronouncement of the verdict in a drug-related case on Wednesday, the accused requested the court for an opportunity to engage in humanitarian service. When Senior Judicial Magistrate Shahidul Islam asked how they intended to serve, the accused expressed their desire to contribute to social welfare. As part of this, they delivered five fans and five bedsheets to the court for donation to a madrasa and orphanage.

Based on this humane initiative, the judge granted them release on probation.

Confirming the matter, Md. Abu Hanif, the Nazir of the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, explained that probation refers to suspending the punishment of an offender without imprisonment or confinement, allowing them to reintegrate into society. Since the accused offered to donate five fans and five bedsheets for a madrasa, the Senior Judicial Magistrate, Shahidul Islam, granted them probation as part of their social service.

The donated items were handed over to the madrasa’s president in the presence of the CJM (Chief Judicial Magistrate).

Advocate Faruq Ahmed, the madrasa's general secretary and a regular member of the Bangladesh Supreme Court and District Bar Association, said, "Today, through the CJM sir, we received five electric fans and five bedsheets for our madrasa. We are deeply grateful and delighted by such a noble gesture. We highly appreciate the honorable judge’s efforts toward building a better society."
