Daughter kills father in Savar, calls 999

A 23-year-old woman, Jannat Jahan Shifa, stabbed her father to death in Savar, Dhaka, and called 999 to inform the police.
Shifa is the daughter of deceased Abdus Sattar. The murder took place on the 5th floor of a building owned by Abdul Kader in Majidpur Kathalbagan area of Savar Municipality at around 4 am on Thursday.
The deceased's home is in Singra Upazila of Natore. After his wife died, he lived in a rented house in the area with his daughter and Abdus Sattar worked in a computer shop.
Police said that at around 4 am, the daughter of deceased Abdus Sattar called the national emergency service number 999 and confessed to killing her father and requested to be arrested. Later, the 23-year-old girl was arrested and her father's body was recovered. The arrested girl alleged that after her mother died, she was raped by her father and filed a case. Abdus Sattar was arrested in that case and released on bail a few months later. After being subjected to rape and torture on various occasions, she planned to kill her father in anger.
The young woman said that as planned, she fed her father sleeping pills mixed with rice on Wednesday night. Then, at around 4 am, she stabbed him in the chest and stomach while he was sleeping and called 999.
While in police custody, the young woman told reporters, "My father married three times in a row. My mother was his third wife. My mother died when I was very young. Since then, I have been raised by my father. Since I did not have a mother, I once fell victim to my father's lust. In 2022, I filed a case against my father at Singra police station on charges of rape. A few months after being arrested in that case, he was released on bail. Then my father realized his mistake and expressed his desire to be with me. I also forgave him."
The young woman further said, "My father took me to a rented house about six months ago. Both my father and I lived in that house. But he tried to rape me again. This created a lot of anger within me. Out of anger and pain, I planned to kill my father. As per the plan, I fed him sleeping pills with rice yesterday (Wednesday) night. Then, at around 4 am, I killed him while he was sleeping and informed the police."
Savar Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Imran Hossain said, "Based on the information given by the girl, she was arrested and her father's body was recovered and brought to the police station. The body had several sharp weapon injuries on the chest and stomach. Further legal action will be taken as per the instructions of the higher authorities."
