
Driver killed in road accident on Dhaka-Mawa Expressway

A driver of a private car was killed and four others were injured in a road accident involving a microbus and a speeding passenger bus on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Srinagar, Munshiganj.
The accident caused temporary traffic congestion on the highway, which was later cleared by the highway police. The incident occurred around 8:30 PM on Friday in Shologhor Bottola area of the expressway.
The deceased private car driver was identified as Sheikh Ibne Hero (36), son of Suruj Sheikh from Ghonapara village of Kashiani upazila in Gopalganj district.
According to the Highway Police and Fire Service, the private car was stationary on the Dhaka-bound lane of the expressway due to a tire repair. At that moment, a microbus lost control and rear-ended the private car. Simultaneously, a passenger bus from BM Paribahan heading towards Dhaka from Mawa struck both the private car and the microbus. As a result, the private car driver and four others sustained serious injuries.
Upon receiving the news, members of the Srinagar Fire Service rushed to the spot, rescued the injured, and sent them to the Upazila Health Complex. The on-duty doctor declared one person dead upon arrival. Srinagar Fire Service Station Officer Dewan Azad confirmed the death.
Hashara Highway Police Station OC Abdul Kader Jilani ssid, the highway police seized the passenger bus and the microbus involved in the accident. However, the bus driver and helper fled the scene.
