Dhaka University Celebrates World Pharmacist Day

World Pharmacists Day was celebrated at Dhaka University on Sunday with the theme “Empowering Pharmacists for a Healthy Future”. Various programs were organized on the occasion.
World Pharmacists Day was celebrated at Dhaka University on Sunday with the theme “Empowering Pharmacists for a Healthy Future”. Various programs were organized on the occasion.
The programs included rallies, discussion meetings, etc. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam was present as the chief guest at the event. The day-long event was organized by the Department of Pharmacy and Faculty of Pharmacy, Dhaka University.
A discussion meeting was held at the Pharmacy Lecture Theatre on this occasion. Chaired by the Chairman of the Department of Pharmacy, Prof Dr. Zakir Ahmed Chowdhury, the discussion meeting was attended by the Chairman of Radiant Pharmaceuticals Limited, Md. Naser Shahriar Zahedi, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Md. Selim Reza, Chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Prof Dr. Shayla Kabir, Emeritus Prof Dr. Md. Abdur Rashid, Chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Professor Dr. Shimul Halder, Executive Director of Aristopharma Limited, Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, Managing Director of Unimed Unihealth Pharmaceuticals, Nazmul Hossain, President of Pharmaro Bangladesh, Md. Jamal Uddin, and General Manager (Factory) of Drug International Limited, Mahbubul Islam. Convener of the event organizing committee, Professor Dr. ATM Zafrul Azam, delivered the welcome address.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam emphasized on strengthening industry-academia relations for the development, modernization and expansion of the country's pharmaceutical industry. He said that teachers and students of the pharmacy department should conduct international standard research activities to produce quality medicines.
