Cox's Bazar Correspondent

In a major anti-narcotics operation, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has seized 70,000 Yaba tablets from the Hnila Konapara area of Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar. The estimated market value of the seized contraband is approximately Tk 3.5 crore.

Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon, Media Officer of the Coast Guard Headquarters said this in a press release on Saturday morning.

Acting on intelligence, a specialized team from the Coast Guard Station Teknaf conducted a raid near Konapara in Hnila on Friday at approximately 8:00 PM.

During the operation, the Coast Guard team spotted a suspicious CNG-run auto-rickshaw and signaled the driver to stop. Upon seeing the patrol, the driver abandoned the vehicle and managed to flee the scene.

A thorough search of the abandoned auto-rickshaw led to the discovery of the 70,000 Yaba tablets, which had been hidden in a sophisticated manner within the vehicle.

The seized Yaba tablets and the auto-rickshaw have been secured, and legal action against those involved has been taken.

The Bangladesh Coast Guard remains committed to its mission of curbing the proliferation of narcotics and will continue to conduct such intelligence-driven operations in the future, the press release added.
