Coast Guard and police in a joint operation in  Teknaf have  seized hand grenades, live ammunition, and local liquor

Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Harun-or-Rashid confirmed the details through a press release on Saturday afternoon.

According to the press release, based on secret intelligence, a special joint operation was conducted at 5:00 AM on Saturday by the Bangladesh Coast Guard Station Teknaf, under the Coast Guard East Zone, in coordination with Teknaf Police Station, in the Nature Park area of Damdamia, Teknaf. During the hour-long search in a pond within the Nature Park, a sack was identified submerged in an ingenious manner.

Upon retrieval and inspection, the sack contained 10 hand grenades, 10 grenade detonators, 27 rifle rounds, and 2 pistol rounds scattered along the pond’s edge, along with 2 liters of local liquor. Sensing the presence of the joint forces, the smugglers fled, and no arrests were made during the operation.

Legal proceedings regarding the seized hand grenades, detonators, live ammunition, and narcotics are underway.

To maintain law and order, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has been conducting 24-hour patrols, significantly improving the law and order situation and curbing smuggling activities in coastal and riverine areas under its jurisdiction. The Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to prevent the smuggling of illegal explosives and narcotics.
