A child student named Ayesha Akter, also known as Nayon Tara (4), was killed in an accident involving an auto-rickshaw. The incident occurred on Tuesday on a paved road in Bajurbagh, Bandar Upazila of Narayanganj, in front of Baten Mia's house.
Nayon Tara, the victim, was the daughter of Raju Mia from the Pitchkamtal area in Musapur Union, Bandar upazila. Following the accident, local residents detained the auto-rickshaw driver, Mahmud, at the scene. Mahmud, who lives in the Bajurbagh area, is the son of Jalal Mia, also a resident of Musapur Union. Locals have alleged that the child’s death resulted from the auto-rickshaw being driven at a reckless speed.
Witnesses reported that Nayon Tara, a student in the kindergarten class at Ikra Kindergarten School in Langalbanda, was heading to her grandparents’ home after school was dismissed around 11:30 a.m. While walking on the Pitchkamtal-Bajurbagh road near Baten Mia's house, she was struck from behind by a speeding auto-rickshaw. The impact threw her against a roadside boundary wall, leaving her severely injured. Locals rushed her to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
