The 48th founding anniversary of the BNP was observed in Shantiganj, Sunamganj, on Tuesday with various festive and political programs.

The day's events commenced at 11:00 AM at the Jhilmil Auditorium in the upazila, featuring a discussion meeting and a colorful rally. Prior to the main session, a procession by the upazila Jubo Dal along the Sylhet-Sunamganj highway, accompanied by smaller processions from various BNP units, converged at the venue.

Presided over by Upazila BNP Convener Haji Jalal Uddin and jointly conducted by First Joint Convener Roushan Khan Sagar and Joint Convener Abul Kashem Naim, the discussion meeting was addressed by Sunamganj-3 (Jagannathpur-Shantiganj) MP M. Kayshor Ahmed as the chief guest.

Paying deep tribute to the late leaders, MP M. Kayshor Ahmed said, "On this day, I fondly remember three-time former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia for her immense contribution to Bangladesh's independence and sovereignty. I also recall with profound respect the founder of the BNP, martyred President Ziaur Rahman, without whose leadership the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh could not have been achieved."

Expressing his gratitude to the electorate, he added, "I thank you for giving an ordinary person like me the opportunity to serve by electing me to the  Parliament with the 'Sheaf of Paddy' as the nominee of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

Addressing local development and social issues, the MP said  "Development is not merely constructing roads and culverts; the core of development lies in education and healthcare. 

The meeting was also addressed by Sunamganj District BNP Member Ansar Uddin, District BNP Member Mohammad Faruk Ahmed, Upazila BNP Member Nur Ali, Upazila BNP Joint Convener Akhteruzzaman Babul, Shantiganj Upazila BNP Joint Convener Abdal Hossain, District Jubo Dal Acting President Aminur Rashid Amin, West Pagla Union BNP Convener Awlad Hossain, East Birgaon Union BNP Convener Tofayel Ahmed, Joint Convener Saikul Hossain, Joykalas Union BNP Joint Convener Hossain Ahmed, and Upazila Jubo Dal Convener Suhel Mia, alongside other local leaders and activists from various front-line and associate organizations.
