State Minister Shariful Alam aims to  bring youth back to sports fields

State Minister for Textiles and Jute Md. Shariful Alam has stated that the government aims to draw the youth back to sports fields through the revival of traditional games and sports activities.

The State Minister made these remarks while addressing an event organized by the Kuliarchar Upazila administration on Monday morning at 11:00 AM as the chief guest.

"We want to bring the youth back to the fields through sports and athletics," he said. "Traditional games will be reintroduced to encourage youth participation. Students will be provided with sports equipment and other facilities so they return to the playgrounds. If we can successfully bring them back to the fields, the youth will naturally stay away from drugs and various immoral activities, fostering the proper development of their talents."

Presided over by UNO Md. Yasin Khandaker, the program also included the distribution of sports materials, corrugated iron (CI) sheets and food items provided by the Department of Disaster Management, and agricultural incentives along with GR rice among victims of untimely floods. Earlier, the State Minister inaugurated the 53rd Summer Sports Competition, featuring students from various schools, colleges, madrasas, and technical educational institutions across the upazila.

The event was attended by Upazila Agriculture Officer Morjina Akter, Senior Fisheries Officer Sheikh Masud Rana, Local Government Engineer Md. Ali Jinnah, Social Services Officer Mahbuba Siddiqui, OC  Kazi Arif Uddin, alongside officials from various government departments, journalists, teachers, students, and people from all walks of life. The program was conducted by Upazila Academic Supervisor Mohammad Mushfiqur Rahman.

Later at noon, State Minister for Textiles and Jute Md. Shariful Alam led the festive celebration of the 48th founding anniversary of the BNP organized by the upazila BNP.

Marking the anniversary, leaders and activists from the BNP and its associate organizations brought out a vibrant rally from in front of the party office, which paraded through the important thoroughfares of the town before concluding with a discussion meeting in front of the Zilla Parishad Auditorium.

The rally and meeting saw the presence of district BNP former vice-president Advocate Mashiur Rahman, upazila BNP Acting President Md. Kitab Ali Master, General Secretary M.A. Hannan, municipal BNP general secretary Shahadat Hossain Shah Alam, upazila BNP Joint General Secretary Adv Muhammad Shah Alam, organizing secretaries Md. Farukul Islam Faruk and Md. Rafiqul Islam Ali, municipal BNP organizing secretaries Abdul Latif Mia and Haider A. Alam, upazila BNP Publication and Publicity Secretary Md. Kamrul Islam Musa, and various other local leaders and activists from different unions.
