The Bangladesh Coast Guard has seized 14 kilograms of crystal meth (Ice), 20 bottles of foreign liquor, and 5,000 yaba pills, while arresting one drug peddler during three separate special operations in Teknaf and Ukhia upazilas of Cox's Bazar.

Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan, media officer of the Coast Guard, disclosed the information in a press release on Wednesday noon.

According to the Coast Guard, acting on a tip-off that two large consignments of crystal meth originating from Myanmar were entering Bangladesh via the Naf River, special operations were conducted by Coast Guard Station Teknaf and Shahpari between 1:00 AM and 3:00 AM on Wednesday near Jalia Char and Jaliapara under Teknaf upazila. Sensing the presence of the patrol, drug traffickers beached two wooden boats in the mangrove forests near Jalia Char and Keora forests near Jaliapara and fled the scene. Subsequent searches of the abandoned boats led to the recovery of 14 kg of crystal meth cleverly wrapped inside tea packets and 20 bottles of foreign liquor, alongside the seizure of both boats. Intelligence surveillance and special operations remain ongoing to identify and arrest the traffickers and their associates involved in the smuggling ring.

In a separate operation on Tuesday night at 10:00 PM, Coast Guard Station Teknaf intercepted and searched a suspicious individual near the Palongkhali petrol pump area in Ukhia upazila, arresting him with 5,000 yaba pills
