262.5 -kg of fish fry released in Shantiganj

Under the slogan "Rupali Matsye Sonirbhor Desh, Sobar Age Bangladesh" (A self-reliant country in silver fish, Bangladesh comes first), a total of 262.5 kg of fish fry was released into local water bodies in Shantiganj Upazila under Sunamganj district.
Organized by the Shantiganj Upazila Administration and the Upazila Fisheries Office, the fish fry were released on Monday afternoon into the Sadarpur River, the Upazila Administration pond, and the Upazila Health Complex pond.
Shantiganj UNO Hillol Chakma, Upazila BNP First Joint Convenor Raushan Khan Sagar, Upazila Agriculture Officer Ahsan Habib, UHFO Dr. Iqbal Hasan, RMO Dr. Hasibul Nasim Sohan, Upazila Fisheries Officer Kamrul Hasan, Hatchery Officer Moniruzzaman, Cooperatives Officer Ruhul Hasan, Upazila Engineer Sajedul Islam, and Paschim Pagla Union BNP Convenor Awlad Hossain were present at the event.
Among others present were Shantiganj Press Club President Samiul Kabir, General Secretary Md. Nurul Haq, Upazila Fisheries Office Computer Operator Azizur Rahman, Hatchery Office Assistant Al Amin, and local dignitaries.
According to sources at the Upazila Fisheries Office, a total of 262.5 kg of fish fry—comprising Rui, Mrigal, and Katla species—were released under the revenue budget allocation for the 2026–2027 fiscal year.
