Tragic incident in Bhairab: Elderly woman allegedly beaten to death over bicycle dispute

An elderly woman, Rehana Begum (70), was allegedly beaten to death with a bamboo stick by her neighbors in the Jagannathpur Dakshin Para area of Bhairab Municipality.
The accused have been identified as Jahangir Mia and his wife, Rima Begum.
According to local and police sources, the incident occurred on Friday afternoon while Rehana Begum was sweeping her yard. Jahangir Mia’s five-year-old son, Alif, was riding a bicycle nearby and repeatedly lifting the front wheel close to her feet. When she scolded the child, an argument broke out between the two families.
During the altercation, Jahangir Mia and Rima Begum allegedly attacked Rehana Begum with a bamboo stick, leaving her severely injured. She was rushed to the local Upazila Health Complex, where the duty doctor declared her dead.
Limon Bose, OC (Investigation) of Bhairab Police Station, confirmed that police responded to the scene immediately upon receiving the news.
