Joypurhat Correspondent

Banglavision's Abu Bakkar Siddique has been elected as the president and DBC News, Bangladesh Pratidin and Dainik Karatoya correspondent Shamim Quadir as the general secretary in the biennial election (2026-2028) of the executive committee of Joypurhat Press Club. The results were officially announced after the voting on Saturday.

According to the announced results, Abu Bakkar Siddique won the post of president with 29 votes. His closest rival Mashrequl Alam of Dainik Sangram got 18 votes. On the other hand, Shamim Quadir was elected as the general secretary with 34 votes. His rival Moazzem Hossain of Ekattor TV got 13 votes.

The winners in other categories are:
Co-Chairmen: Sohel Ahmed Leo (SA TV - 24 votes) and Tanvirul Islam Rigyan (Daily Bhorer Darpan - 22 votes).
Co-General Secretary: Abu Musa (Daily Manabkantha - 21 votes).
Treasurer: Ismail Hossain (Daily Jayayadin - 35 votes).
Library Editor: Zahidul Islam (Daily Ajker Bashundhara - 26 votes).Office Secretary: Milan Raihan (Mohana TV - 26 votes). Publicity and Publication Editor: Moannaf Hossain Shimul (Daily Chandni Bazar - The Country Today - Today's Business Bangladesh 30 votes), Sports and Cultural Editor: Sheetal Chandra (Vijay TV - 26 votes).

In addition, Ataur Rahman of Daily Ajker Patrika (31 votes), Pulak Sarkar of Daily Tritiya Matar (28 votes) and Ruhul Amin of Daily Alo Barta (28 votes) won the post of executive member.

The final results of the election were announced in a notification signed by the Election Management Board's Chief Election Commissioner Nazrul Islam and Election Commissioners Advocate Arafat Hossain Moon and Sujan Kumar Mondal.
