Culture of personality worship, flattery weakened state institutions :Mahmudur Rahman

At a seminar titled 'Human Rights Violations and the Right of Victims to Justice' organized by human rights organization 'Adhikar' at the Sirdap Auditorium on Saturday in Topkhana Road in the capital, Mahmudur Rahman, Editor of Amar Desh, said that Bangladesh's culture of personality worship and flattery has weakened state institutions. He alleged that the judiciary has not been able to perform its duties independently due to the influence of power and many judicial decisions have been taken in line with political realities
Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the judiciary also bear a major responsibility for establishing fascism in the country. She claims that the judiciary created an environment on which fascism was established in the country.
He said, "If anyone has more crimes than Sheikh Hasina, then the crimes of the judges are even greater. You have created the ground, as a result of which fascism has been established."
Citing his own experience, he said that he had to appear in various courts for a long time due to the 125 cases against him. Mentioning that he was forced to appear in court even after being attacked in Kushtia, he claimed that a judge made insulting comments to him when he went to the High Court to seek anticipatory bail. Based on these experiences, he questioned the impartiality of the judiciary.
According to Mahmudur Rahman, three things are important to avoid such situations in the future:
Ensuring justice for criminals regardless of party affiliation.
Establishing true democracy and ensuring freedom of criticism.
