SUST announces Tk 205 cr budget for fiscal year 2025-26

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) has announced its annual budget for the fiscal year 2025–26, allocating a total of Tk 205.76 crore. This marks a 14% increase compared to the previous year budget of Tk 180.08 crore. 
 
The announcement was made at noon on Thursday in the conference room of the university register building by Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Ismail Hossain. VC Prof Dr. A.M. Sarwar Uddin Chowdhury, Pro VC Prof Dr. Md. Sajedul Karim, Acting Registrar Kalam Ahmad Chowdhury, Director of Accounts Sohel Uddin Ahmad,Additional Director Md. Murshed Ahmad, and Director of Planning and Development Ahmad Mahbub Ferdousi were also present at the event.

This year’s budget allocates: Tk 119.06 crore for salaries and allowances including special benefits, Tk 45.35 crore for goods and services, Tk 15 crore for pensions, Tk 10.20 crore for research, Tk 3 lakh for innovation,Tk 20 lakh for primary healthcare, Tk 1.83 crore for other grants, Tk 9.18 crore for equipment, Tk 1.70 crore for vehicles, Tk 2.50 crore for ICT development, and Tk 70 lakh for other capital grants.

Compared to last year, the allocation for the innovation sector has decreased by Tk 1 lakh, equipment grants by Tk 25 lakh, and ICT grants by Tk 35 lakh. On the other hand, research funding has increased by Tk 70 lakh, and vehicle grants have increased significantly by Tk 1.18 crore. Speaking at the budget presentation, VC  Prof Dr. A.M. Sarwar Uddin Chowdhury said, “This year’s budget has increased compared to the previous year. 
 
We will make every effort to use these funds for the overall development of the university. We are emphasizing research to advance SUST in science and technology. Ourgoal is to produce high-quality researchers of international standard.”
