Navy -police joint operation : Drugs, domestic firearms recovered in Sandwip

During a joint operation conducted by the Bangladesh Navy in Sandwip Upazila of Chittagong, various types of domestic weapons including drugs and firearms have been recovered.
Based on intelligence information, the Navy and police conducted a special operation in Ward No. 1 of Azimpur Union in Sandwip Upazila on Tuesday night.
During the joint operation, drugs were searched at the house of identified terrorist Mamun in the area and 16 domestic weapons including pistols, Chinese axes, and chapatis were recovered from the canal behind his house. Terrorist Mamun was accused of forcibly occupying other people's land, fighting, illegal weapons, drug trade and extortion. It is known that terrorist Mamun is currently in hiding.
The weapons seized in the operation have been handed over to Sandwip Police Station for further legal action, according to the Bangladesh Navy's media cell. It is to be noted that regular operations are underway in areas under the responsibility of the Navy, including Sandwip, to maintain the law and order situation in the country.
